Kanazawa

Kanazawa Station (Japanese: かなざわえき) is a railway station operated by the West Japan Railway (JR West Japan) and the Ishikawa Railway in Kita-machi, Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The Hokuriku Shinkansen Phase 1 is also used as the terminus. . The giant building “Drum Gate” in the east exit is the most familiar symbol of this station. As for the underground passage under the station, there is also a North Rail Kanazawa Station belonging to the Hokuriku Railway.

Station construction and layout

Both the incoming line and the Shinkansen are elevated stations. The platform is located on the 2nd floor; the Shinkansen platform is located on the 3rd floor; it is attached to the east exit of the original platform.

Kanazawa Station has an east exit and a west exit, as well as a central hall, with a surname in a straight line. All facilities in the station building are on both sides of the hall. All railway facilities are on the south side of the hall. You can also find the bus terminal and taxi on the east and west side of the station.

A large part of the station building is also occupied by a shopping mall called Hyakubangai. It consists of three main parts: the central side of the central hall is "Rinto", the south side is "Anto", and the Kutsurogikan occupying the west end of the building. In the Rinto and Anto areas, there are also shops and market stalls.

The Tourist Information Centre is located on the north side of the Rinto District Hall, very close to the East Exit. Here you can get free maps, bus schedules and event information, get help booking a hotel, and even borrow an umbrella when it rains.

There is a Travelex foreign currency exchange store inside the Nippon Travel Agency on the north side of the Rinto District Hall. Opening hours are from 10:00 – 20:00 daily.
